Spread the Harvest

Spread the Harvest seeks to reduce financial barriers to food gardening by providing residents with free gardening resources, including:

 

• Non-GMO and Traditional Native Seeds

• Transplants and compost - available twice per year at Resource Giveaway Days

• Access to virtual gardening planner & newsletter, which contains information on upcoming gardening events, classes, volunteer opportunities, and more

Who Qualifies?

 

We accept applications for Spread the Harvest from:

 

• Low-income Indigenous gardeners (no fee)

• School garden representatives who wish to share Indigenous agricultural history and practices 

• Community gardeners and service providers that work with and provide food to low community members at risk

 

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

 

In exchange for receiving free resources, participants agree to track the amount of food they harvest and share.

 

Four times per year—in January, April, July, and October—Grow Local staff survey gardeners by email or phone to see how their garden is growing.

 

Participants who do not answer three consecutive surveys are removed from the program.
